We have to change,
For a better tomorrow

What are we doing?

Our journey towards a truly sustainable brand starts at the design stage, fully planning out the product before it goes into production is crucial, thinking about what kind of waste will be produced, can we use the waste effectively, how will this fabric effect our planet, where has the fabric come from? how will it get here? is the design itself going to last, is it designed in the most effective way?

Measuring our waste

We need to keep ourselves accountable for the amount of waste we produce, so that we can see where we can improve, we do this by weighing how much leftover fabric we have after production, which includes after embroidery and diffusion line, which are made from left over fabric.

For our first collection, Omen, we weighed 690 grams of leftover fabric.

Sustainability objectives

We need to keep ourselves accountable for the amount of waste we produce, so that we can see where we can improve, we do this by weighing how much leftover fabric we have after production, which includes after embroidery and diffusion line, which are made from left over fabric.

We value keeping ourselves accountable, here is what we are working towards now:

-sustainable swing tags

-biodegradable packaging

-fully biodegradable items

-build more relationships with local makers

-More insight into where our fabric comes from

Waste

We pride ourselves on not letting any resource go to waste and instead using it in our designs.

-All of our embroidery pieces are made fully of left over fabric from other items, such as the Omen collection, even the thread used in the embroidery pieces are all left overs from other items.

-Our diffusion line will be created from left over fabric.

Production

Material selection

Sourcing fabric is a important part of being sustainable, we will only use material that is 100% natural, allowing the garments to biodegrade in the future. Even the thread we use for our garments are 90% natural, (info on the other 10% below)

Our garments are all made in Australia by either local makers or myself, ensuring that not only we support local, but we can be sure that those working with us are in good working conditions, and getting paid properly.

Circularity

To be truly sustainable, we must have a circular supply chain, not a linear one, meaning all products and resources must circulate through our supply chain, taking responsibility for our products, even when they leave our hands into yours, making a conscious effort to close the loop, we do this by planning out each product we creates supply chain, ensuring it wont end up in landfill after a few homes, this is done with thanks to a few systems:

-Rehome, allowing consumers to sell their items back to consumers who are looking for them, giving a clear way to lengthen the life of an item.

-Repair, We accept damaged items and repair them for free, with options for visible mending.

-Diffusion line, If an item is beyond repair we encourage consumers to send back the item to us, so we can create it into a one of one smaller good item, such as embroidery patch, bag, hat, pillows, anything else we can think of!

-Recycle, if the above systems fail, we organise the material/item to be picked up for recycling in Australia by 'UPPAREL' a fabric recycling company that is applicable to all of our products.

Made to order

We do not order and create a backlog of products, all of our products are made to order, meaning if you are interested in a product you can select the size you want, and after purchase we will start creating your item. This ensures we don't use up more resources than we need to, which also strengthens the connection between you and your item, it was made for you!!

Levelling system

We have a built in levelling system in our website, that encourages and rewards customers to use the above systems that lengthen our products, and keeps our supply chain circular. By using any of the above systems the use will gain XP towards tiers, which grants the user rewards such as unique embroidery on items they purchase, discounts, free shipping, first looks at new items and more! the more XP the more rewards.
